The Maplewood Read-a-thon is one of PTA’s biggest fundraisers. This year we are hoping to raise $14,000! PTA uses the money raised to support our teachers and classroom needs such as technology, art, science, books and learning materials, field trips, as well as school improvements.
You can help by asking family and friends to sponsor your student’s Read-a-thon by making a pledge per minute read (or a flat donation). Sending personalized videos or making phone calls to family and friends asking for donations is a great idea.
When:
- Read-a-thon will be the week of October 21st – 25th.
- October 21st – 25th: Track the minutes your student reads.
- By November 2nd: Collect pledges.
- Monday, November 4th: Turn in Reading Logs and donations.
How It Works:
- Families will help their student(s) track minutes read at home and add to their Reading Log or track online on the 99 pledges site.
- Teachers will also track the time students read at school and share with families to add to their Reading Log. Each class will have a reading thermometer so they can see how much they’re reading at school.
3 Ways to Donate:
(1) 99 Pledges: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/maplewoodr1
Using 99 pledges helps make payments & sharing our fundraiser easier for family and friends. There are no fees. To set up 99 pledges:
- Go to the site, scroll to the bottom left, and select “Add Participant”
- Enter your student’s name, last initial, and add their grade and teacher [ex: “Teddy M (5th, Kaplan)”]. You do not need to add a photo of your student when prompted via email.
- Share that page with family and friends
Note: Add minutes read in 99 pledges by Nov 2. If not, we will enter 100 minutes read.
(2) Cash or check:
Family and friends can make pledges and pay by cash or check. Please make checks out to Maplewood PTA and write Read-a-thon in the Memo.
(3) Maplewood Store (Square payment): https://maplewood-pta.square.site/
We also have our PTA square available to pay online without using 99 pledges.
