Maplewood Elementary Walking Thursdays

The PTA's walk and bike to school committee sponsors walking school bus routes on Thursday mornings from September 15, 2011 through November 17, 2011 and resume in the Spring on April 19, 2012 through June 7, 2012. The walking "bus" leaves from a public area and walks to Maplewood with volunteer leaders. Parents are encouraged to walk with the group or drop off their kids to walk.

Gabriel Park Dog/Skate Park, Departs 7:30 AM (red route)

Start at the skate park, dog park, and tennis courts off SW 45th Ave.

Ashcreek, Departs 7:30 AM (purple route)

Led by Bayard Lyons (bayard@iinet.com).

Start at SW 48th Avenue and SW Evans Street.

60th & Miles, Departs 7:35 AM (green route)

Led by Nancy Upton (cnupton@msn.com).

Start at SW 60th Ave. and SW Miles St.

Texas St. & 49th Ave, Departs 7:40 AM (orange route)

April 19	Celebrate the earth. Walk or bike to school and recieve a snack, prize and a chance to win Nutcase Helmet. Same four routes listed with an additional route at Thinker Toys (35th and Capitol Hwy) departing at 7:20 am with Tracy Hyland

May is Walk & Bike Challenge Month

Sponsored by the Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA), this statewide event is a friendly competition encouraging students to walk and bike to school for the month of May. Students track the number of days they walk or bike to school and are eligible to win a grand prize.
